Here is the link to the Jasper County Treasurer web site to find the personal property taxes of everyone in the county.  This is public information available to everyone.  You can use this information to research your property if you feel your taxes are too high.  You only have 45 days from the date on your tax bill to appeal your taxes for the next year.  If you should have filled for one of the exemptions and didn't, make sure you do so before March 1st to change your taxes for this year.

If your taxes have doubled, your mortgage company may have incorrectly doubled your escrow bill.  Real estate taxes are normally sent out in March for 1/2 a year of taxes.  However, this year there was only 1 statement sent in January that covered an entire year of taxes.  Some mortgage companies have taken that full year statement and still doubled it because that is what they normally do.  Check with the Jasper county treasurer and your mortgage company.
